86 Connection
You let Sam finish his thoughts. Nine questions, one cut-in, and a fourteen-second silence at 12:08 you didn't rush to fill. Sam talked himself into the move — you just kept the door open.

Good evening, Claire
82 Connection score Strong · 6 conversations

A strong week. You listened closely and asked real questions — the walk with Sam and lunch with John both show it. One moment to sit with: in the hard talk, you offered your opinion before your partner had finished.

Analyze Intent vs. impact
Why do my good intentions sometimes backfire?
Because people hear your words, not your intent. The call with Mom went sideways right after you explained your need to save on travel costs: you spoke over her and interrupted three times. On your walk with Sam, you asked "Did that come out wrong?" and the conversation improved from there. Curiosity about impact repairs faster than defending intent.

How it works

Every conversation leaves a trace.

01

Record, or upload a recording

Tap to record a conversation with someone in your life, or import one you've already recorded. A short read-aloud teaches rl8 your voice, so it can tell your side from theirs. Keep the audio for your own review, or let it stream through and leave nothing behind.

02

Trained AI agents listen for what matters most

The conversation is transcribed and scored on eleven qualities of connection, defined by a licensed therapist with more than a decade of experience working with couples and individuals. Every score comes with the phrases that earned it, so you see yourself in your own words, not just a number.

03

Track your progress

Each metric comes with feedback on what went right, what went wrong, and one thing to try next time. Tag the people you talk with and watch your patterns change over time, conversation by conversation and person by person.

Eleven metrics

What it listens for.

Each one is scored from the transcript and explained in plain words. Nobody else sees your scores, and nothing ranks you against anyone.

Listener

The balance of talking to listening, and how you showed you were with the speaker. Are you an interrupter, a monologuer, or all ears?

Attunement

Recognizing and responding to what another person is feeling, needing, or trying to communicate. Empathy is the strongest indicator of a solid relationship.

Positivity

The balance of positive to negative in how you framed things. Do you drag the mood down, or lift it?

Curiosity

Questions and follow-ups that show genuine interest in another person's perspective, story, and experience. Do you show that you care?

Appreciation

Expressing gratitude, acknowledgment, or credit for another person and their contributions. Grateful people report more satisfying relationships.

Respect

Treating the other person and their perspective with dignity, even when you disagree.

Collaboration

Inviting others into decisions, solutions, and next steps rather than imposing your own. Think of it as the bossiness metric.

Warmth

Friendliness, affection, kindness, and support. Do you come across as cold and detached, or warm and engaged?

Directness

How clearly you said what you actually thought, wanted, or needed. Do you hint and hedge, or get right to the point?

Composure

Staying calm and de-escalating rather than raising tension, read from your tone of voice and choice of words.

Cadence

The average length of your speaking turns compared to others'. Quick back-and-forth, or taking up all the space?

Analysis

Ask your conversations.

Ask the built-in AI anything: dig into what really happened in a conversation, or get perspective on a situation you're navigating. Answers come from your own transcripts, scores, and quoted moments — never from anyone else's. Every answer cites the relevant conversation and phrases, so you can go back to them.

Am I harder on my team than my family?

Mostly, yes. In this month's two standups your Respect and Collaboration run about fifteen points under your calls home, and you cut in twice as often. At home you ask more follow-ups and hand the floor back.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Do I have to ask before recording someone?

Yes. Recording works best in the open — always record with the other person's knowledge and consent. In many places it's also the law. The app reminds you before each recording starts.

Where does my audio go?

You choose whether rl8 keeps audio at all. If you keep it, it's encrypted in transit and at rest, held for up to thirty days so you can play moments back, then permanently deleted. If you don't, only the transcript and scores remain. Nothing is sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models — ours or anyone else's.

Who can access my data?

Only you. Your audio and transcripts are encrypted with a dedicated key, and no rl8 developer holds credentials that can reach them. The only thing that touches your conversations is the automated pipeline that transcribes and scores them, and every request is checked against your own login.

How does rl8 understand connection and provide meaningful insight?

Our AI agents were trained by a licensed therapist with more than a decade of experience helping couples and individuals deepen their human connection. This knowledge was used to define how each metric is scored, and how feedback is always clinically appropriate, positive, and actionable.

Can I analyze old recordings?

Yes — import a voice memo and rl8 treats it like any other conversation. A short read-aloud teaches it your voice so it can tell your side from theirs.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Deleting a conversation removes the recording, the transcript, the scores, and every insight drawn from it. Delete your account at any time to permanently erase everything, including your voiceprint. You can also lock the app with Face ID so it opens only for you.

When can I get it?

Now. rl8 is an iPhone app on the App Store, and you start free. Android isn't planned yet.
