rl8 is made by a small team, and support is a mailbox read by the people who build it. Write to dave@fogcitycodeworks.com with what happened and what you expected, and you will hear back from someone who can fix it.
Support for the iPhone appManage or cancel your subscription
Subscriptions are bought and billed through Apple, so they are managed there, not in rl8. Cancelling stops the next charge; your plan runs until the end of the period you already paid for. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid one more charge.
— On your iPhone: open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, then choose rl8. From there you can switch between Plus and Pro, switch between monthly and annual, or cancel.
— Or in the App Store app: tap your picture in the top corner, then Subscriptions.
— Refunds are Apple's to give. Ask through reportaproblem.apple.com or the App Store; we cannot refund a purchase ourselves and never see your card.
Inside rl8, the menu shows your current plan and links to the same Apple screen.
Restore purchases
A subscription follows your Apple ID. If you get a new phone, reinstall the app, or sign in and the app still shows you as Free, open the menu in the app, go to the subscription screen and tap Restore purchases. Make sure the phone is signed into the Apple ID that bought the subscription.
A subscription belongs to the rl8 account that bought it. If you restore from a different rl8 account, the app tells you which account holds the subscription so you can sign into that one instead. If the account that bought it has been deleted, restoring moves the subscription to the account you are signed into.
Delete your account
In the app, open the menu and tap Delete my account. Everything in the account is permanently erased: recordings, transcripts, scores, insights and your voiceprint. There is no undo, and we cannot restore it afterwards.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Apple keeps billing until you cancel it in your Apple subscription settings, as above. Cancel first, or right after; either order works, but do not skip it.
What happens to your recordings
You choose whether rl8 keeps the audio of a conversation. If you keep it, it is held for thirty days so you can play moments back, then permanently deleted. If you do not, the audio is never stored. Transcripts, scores and insights stay until you delete the conversation, or the account. Delete a conversation and everything from it goes: the recording, the transcript, the scores and every insight drawn from it.
The privacy page has the whole picture, including what leaves your phone and who can see it.
The free pool
A new account starts on Free, with a fixed number of conversations and questions that never expire. It is a pool rather than a monthly allowance: use it in an afternoon or over a year. When it is spent, the app stays open and everything you recorded stays readable; recording and asking need a subscription from then on. The pool counts every conversation and question the account has ever made, on any plan, so a subscription that ends does not bring it back.
Each iPhone gets one free pool. If the app says this device has already used its free conversations, sign in to the account that used them or subscribe. The current numbers, and what Plus and Pro add, are on the pricing page.
Something else
Recording that will not upload, a conversation that scored strangely, a question the app could not answer, a bug: write to dave@fogcitycodeworks.com. Include the phone model, the app version from the menu, and roughly when it happened, and it gets fixed faster. The terms of service and the privacy page cover the rest.
